Meguru Low Table
A table born from the collaboration between Al2 and Kengo Kuma & Associates. Inspired by the Greek meander motif, Meguru lifts an ancient pattern out of two dimensional surfaces and unfolds it into space.
A continuous plywood sheet loops back into itself, creating an uninterrupted movement that defines both the form and function of the table: a flowing object linking tradition, contemporary craft and precision engineering. The gesture appears effortless yet it is sustained by the controlled curvature of the geometry and the inherent resistance of the material.
Kengo Kuma is an internationally recognized architect and scholar whose work seeks to dissolve buildings into their surroundings, privileging relation over display.
He sees architecture as a mediator between people and their context, favoring simplicity, openness, the use of natural materials, and the value of local craftsmanship.
